BetterShield
BetterShield Hub

Every site you look after, in one place

An optional dashboard for people who look after more than one site. See every score and finding, apply or undo fixes, and hear when a site goes down.

Free, and optional: everything in BetterShield works without it.

Overview

See every site at a glance

Every connected site’s score, grade and open findings in one place, with the sites to look at first on top.

An illustration with made-up sites.

What it does

Everything, across every site

Each site’s own score, findings and fixes, read from that site and gathered in one place.

  • Scores and findings in one place

See every connected site’s score, grade and findings without signing in to each one.

  • Fixes, site by site

Apply or undo a fix on any connected site from the hub.

  • Alerts when it matters

The hub checks every few minutes that each site’s front page answers, and alerts you when a site goes down or its grade drops.

  • Your team

Invite your team, so the people who look after the sites work from the same screen.

AI assistants

One connection for your AI, every site

Connect your AI assistant to the hub once, and it can look across every site in your workspace.

Works with

  • Claude
  • ChatGPT
  • Claude Code
  • Cursor
  • VS Code
  • Windsurf
  • Every assistant signs in through the hub’s approval page, so no key goes into a command or a file.
  • It reads every site at once, so “which site needs attention first?” is one question.
  • A change still goes site by site, and one that changes how people sign in needs that site’s own confirmation.

Without the hub: one site per connection

BetterShield has its own assistant connection built in. Connect your assistant to a site, and it works with that site.

Through the hub: every site at once

Through BetterShield Hub, one connection reaches every site in your workspace, under the same rules: sign-in changes wait for a person to agree, and every change is recorded on the site.

Connect a site

Connect a site in three steps

Each site is connected from its own dashboard, and approved on that site, once.

  1. Open BetterShield › Hub on the site

You can also start from Settings, or from the last step of Quick Setup.

  2. Approve it on the site’s consent page

The hub can reach a site only once you approve it there, on that site.

  3. Choose what the hub may do

“Allow it to change this site” is ticked. Untick it to connect read-only.

The site needs BetterShield 1.1.0 or newer.

Who it’s for

Made for looking after more than one site

  • Agencies

Every client site’s security on one screen, and every change recorded in that client site’s own activity log.

  • Freelancers and maintainers

Check a whole portfolio at once, and know when a site goes down without opening each one.

  • Teams with many sites

Production, staging and regional sites side by side, with your team invited.

The free plugin has more for many sites: WP-CLI, settings export and multisite

Your sites stay in charge

A connection you control

  • Your site doesn’t call the hub

The hub contacts the site, never the other way round, and only once you have approved it.

  • Read-only, if you prefer

Connect a site read-only, and the hub can see it but never change it.

  • Sign-in changes wait for a yes

The hub applies only fixes that can be undone. A change to how people sign in, or taking a protection off, waits for a person to agree each time.

  • On the record

Every change the hub makes is in that site’s activity log.

  • Disconnect ends it

Press Disconnect on the site and the connection ends at once. Removing a site inside the hub does not end it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions we get asked most about BetterShield Hub.

Do I need BetterShield Hub?

No. It is optional, and everything in BetterShield works without it. The hub is for people who look after several sites and want their scores, findings and fixes in one place.

Is BetterShield Hub free?

Yes, the hub is free. It works with the free BetterShield plugin from WordPress.org; you do not need Ultra to use it.

What can the hub see and change?

What you allow when you connect. Read-only lets it see the score, findings and a few security views, such as administrators by display name and role. Read-and-fix also lets it apply and undo fixes, and a change to how people sign in, or taking a protection off, waits for a person to agree each time. Every change the hub makes is recorded in the site’s activity log.

How do I connect a site?

On the site, open BetterShield › Hub, or start from Settings or the last step of Quick Setup, and approve the hub on the site’s own consent page. “Allow it to change this site” is ticked by default, so untick it if you want read-only. Connecting turns on the plugin’s assistant connection if it is off. The site needs BetterShield 1.1.0 or newer.

How do I disconnect a site?

Press Disconnect on the site. That ends the connection at once. Removing a site inside the hub does not end it.

Does my site send anything to the hub?

Your site does not contact the hub; the hub contacts the site. Once you connect it, the hub reads the score, findings and available tools, applies or removes a protection when you ask, and checks every few minutes that the front page answers.

Which AI assistants can connect to the hub?

Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf. Each one signs in through the hub’s approval page, so no key goes into a command or a file.
