How To Confirm Protection Removal With BetterShield?
Require the signed-in administrator's password before selected actions reduce or remove protection.
In BetterShield, the switch is under BetterShield › Settings › General › Plugin data & tools › Confirm your password before removing a protection.
What it does
Ask for my password before removing a protection is off by default. When on, BetterShield asks before undoing a hardening item, importing settings, changing sign-in behavior, ending sessions, muting alerts, or turning a protection off. Adding protection and reading are not gated.
A successful confirmation lasts 15 minutes for that sign-in and ends sooner when the user signs out or resets the password. Safe mode stands the gate down. Passkey-only accounts are not asked for a password.
Step 1: Confirm Protection Removal
Turn on the switch. The next covered action opens the password prompt.
Recommended settings
Enable it for administrator accounts that use passwords and for sites where unattended browser sessions are a concern.
What it can break and how to undo
An administrator who does not know the account password cannot complete covered actions. Sign in through the account’s normal recovery path, or turn the switch off after regaining access.
Final Outcome
In a safe test, start turning off a reversible protection. The confirmation should appear before the change is made.
