See network sites deleted, archived or marked as spam
On multisite, BetterShield records a site being deleted, archived, deactivated, marked as spam or mature, or hidden from search engines.
Find these rows on Network Admin › BetterShield › Activity › Site activity, and on each site’s own BetterShield › Activity › Site activity, under Site settings.
What it does
This applies to WordPress multisite only. Two events join Site created, so a site’s history reads in one place:
- Site status changed is recorded when a site is archived, deactivated, marked as spam, marked mature, or its search engine setting changes. The row shows the site’s address and what changed, such as “example.com/shop/: archived, marked as spam”. The opposite changes read “unarchived”, “reactivated”, “no longer spam”, “no longer mature”, and “shown to search engines” or “hidden from search engines”. Other updates to a site, such as WordPress touching its last-updated time, record nothing.
- Site deleted is recorded when a site is removed from the network. It is written to the main site’s log, because the deleted site’s own log goes with it. The row shows the site’s address.
Both are rated Medium and filed under Site settings. They appear in the activity log and the weekly summary, not as instant email. They are kept even when the log is busy.
A status change is written in the changed site’s own log when BetterShield runs on every site of the network. If it does not, the row is written where the change was made.
Set it up
There is nothing to switch on. It is recorded on a multisite network from activation.
| Option | What it does | Default |

| Recording | Records site status changes and deletions | Always on |
Recommended settings
Our advice is to filter the network log by Site settings after a clean-up and check that each row matches what you did. A site marked as spam or deleted that you did not touch is worth a question to your other network administrators.
What it can break and how to undo
Recording changes nothing on the network. It cannot reverse a change. To undo one, change the site’s status again under Network Admin › Sites. A deleted site cannot be brought back from here.
Check it is working
Archive a test site, then open the network activity log and filter by that site. A Site status changed row should read “[address]: archived”.
