How To Watch for Changes to Security Settings With BetterShield Ultra?
Save a baseline, compare settings daily, accept intended changes or restore a changed setting with undo.
With BetterShield Ultra, save a baseline, compare settings daily, accept intended changes or restore a changed setting with undo.
Note: These controls require the paid BetterShield Ultra add-on alongside the free BetterShield plugin.
What it does
Open BetterShield › Ultra › Settings watch. Settings watch compares security settings with a saved copy once a day. It is inactive until a baseline is saved. Differences appear in Findings; nothing is automatically restored.
Step 1: Open Save the Current Settings to Watch
Choose Save the Current Settings to Watch, or Use a Settings File You Exported. Invalid rows are refused.
Step 2: Watch for changes to security settings
- Review when and by whom the baseline was saved.
- Use Compare Now to refresh What differs now.
- Choose Undo This Change for a setting that should return to baseline.
- For intended changes, Keep These Changes saves the current setup as the new baseline.
Recommended settings
Our advice: pin only a reviewed setup. Use an exported baseline on staging before applying it across client sites.
What it can break and how to undo
Restoring a setting changes its behavior on the site. Read the row and its effect before confirming; the change can be undone from settings history. Stop Watching Settings stops comparison and leaves current settings as they are.
Final Outcome
Change a harmless setting on staging, run Compare Now, and confirm the difference and actor information. An invalid baseline must be rejected rather than reported as matching.
