How To Mute Email Alerts With BetterShield?
Temporarily stop BetterShield security alerts and weekly summaries without stopping checks, protections, or account recovery mail.
In BetterShield, the switch is under BetterShield › Settings › Email Alerts › Mute everything.
What it does
Mute all alerts is off by default. Turning it on stops instant security email and the weekly summary. Their switches appear off while muted but return to their stored choices after unmuting.
Audits, findings, protections, and activity recording continue. Account-specific recovery mail still goes out, including lockout-clearing links, enabled new-network notices, and replacement recovery links. Security alerts that occur while muted are dropped rather than sent later.
Step 1: Mute Email Alerts
Turn on Mute all alerts. The Overview, dashboard widget, and Activity indicate that alerts are muted. Turn it off to resume normal delivery.
Recommended settings
Use a maintenance window instead when only routine work-related messages should pause. Use mute for a deliberate full pause with another monitoring plan.
What it can break and how to undo
Administrators can miss important events while muted. Turn the switch off to resume delivery. Events remain in Activity, but dropped email is not replayed.
Final Outcome
The Alerts summary should read muted, and Send a Test Alert should state that nothing was sent until unmuted.
Events that still email with instant alerts off
Use of the trap password emails even when instant alerts are off. With BetterShield 1.1.6 and Ultra 1.0.7 or newer, Emergency account used emails even when instant alerts are off. Mute all alerts still silences it. Check the card’s delivery warning and configure an email recipient before relying on it. See Emergency account.
